RENE CRUZ APPOINTED ASSOCIATE JUDGE FOR THE SIXTEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT. Congratulations to Rene Cruz for being selected as Kane County’s newest judge. Below is a press release from the Beacon News:
Cruz was selected over 35 other candidates. Cruz has been an attorney in the Aurora area for 17 years.
According to a press release from the 16th Judicial Circuit Court, Cruz started his career with the offices of Morelli, Cook & Peterson in Aurora. He later served as an associate in the law firm of Barbosa & Gil. He moved to Eduardo Gil & Associates in late 1996 and became a partner in the firm of law offices of Gil & Cruz in 2000, where he has continued his practice.
Cruz is a graduate of the Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone and received his bachelor’s degree from The Citadel Military College in South Carolina. He received his law degree from Northern Illinois University School of Law in 1997.
Cruz was past president and legal counsel for the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Board-Business Roundtable. He also served on the Rasmussen College Advisory Board.
Kane County Magazine has chosen Elizabeth Berrones-Rotchford as a 2012 Women of Distinction Award Winner. Seven women were chosen as representative role models and leaders in their fields and communities. An Awards Luncheon was held on October 15, 2012 at the Acquaviva Winery. Northern Illinois University College of Law Alumni Council 2010 has awarded Eduardo J. Gil and Rene Cruz the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award. The Alumni Council honored Gil & Cruz for their outstanding achievements, public service activities, and support to the College. A reception was held on June 11, 2010.
